Unit Scopes

We believe that every patient has the potential to overcome every obstacle. With that goal in mind, the behavioral health nursing team at Shands Vista strives for excellence in treating the following challenging diagnoses:

  • Major depression
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Polysubstance abuse
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Psychosis
  • Panic disorders

Observation and examination are the keys to addressing patient needs and ensuring continued progress on the road to mental health. To this end, we have divided our 81-bed unit into four distinct areas designed to provide individualized patient care:

Each unit features a fenced, locked courtyard and specified therapy rooms. All units also offer a team-centered environment in which nurses can provide care within a total patient model. Collaboration across disciplines is essential to our success here as is the accessibility of a highly credentialed management and clinical team.
