GI Endoscopy

Through collaboration with allied professionals and other departments, our endoscopy nurses develop and implement patient care plans through careful assessment and evaluation. With the belief that all patients deserve the best care available, we closely analyze all factors of a patient’s condition when determining the best, most effective treatment options.

Each member in the Endoscopy Unit contributes to achieving the nursing and medical goals for the patient.  This is accomplished through the Unit QAI Plan based on established standards of care/practice.

The plan of care for each patient should be individualized, should incorporate the medical plan of care, should be continuous and planned in a systematic way, should contribute to the total health maintenance of each patient and should be efficient and organized to accomplish the clinically sophisticated care required during endoscopic procedures.

Employees of the Endoscopy Unit will be encouraged to take advantage of opportunities for professional growth and advancement according to their abilities and will be evaluated according to hospital policy to insure adherence to acceptable standards of care/practice.

Endoscopy Unit staff, including nursing, physicians and supports, will be encouraged to participate in the Quality Assessment & Improvement Process including issue identification, monitoring, issue solving and evaluation.

The Endoscopy Unit functions cooperatively, as well as interdependently, with allied professionals and other hospital departments for the common good of the patient.
